Real talk.

I wasn’t feeling up to taking self portraits this week. Like straight up NOT INTO IT. I over indulged all weekend which left me bloated and sluggish. My hair was several days old and I didn’t have the energy to wash it…But it was Valentine’s Day and February’s inspiration was very red and IN LINE. So I applied a bold red lip - which always gives me Bad Bitch energy - and pushed through anyways.

Guess what?

After I got started. Things still weren’t flowing the way I wanted. Nothing was going according to plan. The inspiration I had pulled didn’t pan out the way I expected. I almost scratched the whole thing and gave up.

In fact. I sort of did.

I paused with my initial set up using a mirror and packed it up for the day. A few hours later I had a free block of time and decided to try again. I threw some red satin sheets on the bed and leaned on a faithful set. A few minutes in and I was already feeling a little better.

Here’s the thing.

I tell my clients all the time that the best time to do a boudoir session is when you aren’t feeling your best. And this week I practiced what I preach and was reminded just how powerful a session can be for your confidence.

These images still aren’t exactly what I hoped for - and I’m admittedly still a little butt hurt that my inspo didn’t work out. But I love them all the same. I feel beautiful and fierce when I look at them. And that is exactly the point of everything I hope to achieve in my business.

We can make the choice to either see Valentine’s Day as the Hallmark Holiday it can be known for - or choose to use this month as a reminder to celebrate the love that surrounds us. I choose the latter. I hope you feel loved this month - most importantly love for yourself.
