STUDIO SET SPOTLIGHT - Outdoor Creek | Kansas City Boudoir Photographer

I love being able to customize each clients Divulged boudoir photoshoot to match their personal style and mood. One of the ways to make your experience unique is picking which sets you want to use for your photoshoot. I photograph client sessions out of my actual home which allows me to offer a wide range of set options for your experience. And being a gal that loves change - I rearrange and make tweaks to bring a fresh feel to the sets I offer quite frequently.

The most popular - and recommended - Divulged Boudoir Experience is the Daredevil. With this session each client gets to select 3 sets to use for their photoshoot. To help answer your questions and nail down which sets are the best fit for YOUR experience, I am dedicating an entire blog series putting each set option in the spotlight! While some tweaks are made to the set quite frequently the main feel and vibe of the set stays the same. In this series I will cover the overall vibe of the set and what I love about it!

Now that we are pretty much in full swing summer around here, the next set in the Studio Set Spotlight is for our outdoor - adventurous - nature loving daredevils - The Creek Set!

I have received a TON of interest in creek set this year! BUT there are some things we need to cover before adding this to your session, which I will cover in this post.

THE VIBE

The creek set is nestled just inside the treeline down a mowed grass trail along the edge of the property. It offers privacy and shade in a beautiful natural setting. A soft trickle from the creek that runs off the edge of the rocks provides calming background noise. The creek set offers an aesthetic in line with adventure, nature, and “off the beaten path.” Whether you keep dry on the rocks or splash in the creek is totally up to you - although I always vote HOP IN! ;)

WHY I LOVE IT

I actually spent a lot of my childhood summers either playing in the creek or down at the lake. So this set just feels good to me in general. I have recently spent some time learning about grounding techniques to ease stress and anxiety. There is something about being naked (or at least barefoot) in nature that is both exciting and relaxing all at the same time.

I love the creek set very obviously for it’s natural beauty. The rocks are perfectly positioned for a place to sit next to the creek without needing to actually get wet if you don’t want to. The overall colors from the trees and grass, rocks, and muddy creek are so warm and inviting. The sun peeks through the tree tops to provide interesting shadow patterns. The creek set is located just inside the property’s tree line, making it private enough to opt for implied or full nude which is always thrilling. There is a lot to love here.

***CREEK SET DISCLAIMERS***

The creek set comes with an extra special little bit called disclaimers. There is indeed a lot to love about the creek set, but it is admittedly not for every client. Just to note - this is the country and real woods. ;)

  • This set is seasonal and weather depending for obvious reasons. The set is generally open mid-May to mid-September.

  • It is a small walk down to the creek. The walk is not far, but it is not paved nor is their gravel. There is a grass path to follow. There is a small section just down from the corner of the studio that tends to get a smidge muddy if it has rained recently. It is still very crossable - just maybe don’t wear nice shoes. The path also follows the neighbors fence line for a bit so you will need to wear a robe or pants/shirt over your wardrobe for that set to venture down and back in.

  • Since we are located in the country, we could come across some pests or wildlife. What we might encounter: thorns, poison ivy, poison oak, ticks, spiders, bees, turtles, snakes, turkey, deer, etc. While I have never had an issue with any of these, it is something to be aware of.

  • It is completely up to you whether you actually get into the creek and get wet or stay on the edges to keep dry. Personally I am pro HOP IN! The disclaimer is that the creek is muddy at the bottom and is chilly since it’s shaded. We will bring a towel down and you will have access to rinse in the shower after the set.

  • We generally save this set for the end of the session. Don’t forget it is generally pretty humid in the summer so we might sweat a bit.
